Company history

May 18, 1960: Construction of the Kremenchuk Foundry and Forging Works was launched in accordance with USSR Council of Ministers Resolution № 740.

December 30, 1970: The first steel was smelted and the first casting was made.

March 15, 1971: Shipment of the first batch of body bolsters to Kryukovsky railway car building works.

1973: A complex with an annual capacity of 33 thousand tonnes of steel casting based on the LH-6000 line was put into operation.

1975: A 30,000-tonne capacity complex based on the German Künkel-Wagner moulding line was commissioned.

1978: The facility was renamed into Kremenchuk Steel Works.

1979: A start-up complex for 10,000 tonnes of casting per year and the second stage of the Künkel-Wagner moulding line were commissioned.

February 13, 1986: One million tonnes of steel castings were produced.

March 13, 1995: Kremenchuk Steel Works became an open joint-stock company.

2002: Production of Model 18-100 bogie frames for freight cars was launched.

2003: Laempe core equipment (Germany) was purchased and put into operation.

December 18, 2003: The works became a winner of the national competition “Vyshcha Proba”.

2004: The third Künkel-Wagner moulding line with an annual capacity of 32,000 tonnes was installed. After the launch, the plant’s capacity was 138 thousand tonnes of casting per year.

2006: A quality management system (QMS) was developed and implemented in accordance with the requirements of AAR M-1003.

2007: The works received a certificate of compliance with the quality control system from AAR. The following year, an audit was conducted to confirm that the quality management system meets the requirements of AAR M-1003.
